About the Bocconi Admission Test

What the Bocconi test is

The Bocconi admission test is the online selection test for Bocconi's bachelor and law programmes. It has 50 multiple-choice questions and lasts 75 minutes, covering Mathematics, Reading comprehension, Numerical reasoning, and Critical thinking. It is one of two elements Bocconi uses to build its admission ranking.

How selection works

Bocconi evaluates applicants on just two elements: your test score, which counts for 55%, and your high-school GPA from your third-last and second-last years, which counts for 45%. Nothing else — recommendation letters, motivation letters, or CVs — is part of the assessment. That makes the test the single biggest lever you control, while your existing grades already carry almost half the weight.

Scoring and the minimum score

You earn +1 for each correct answer and 0 for a blank. A wrong answer costs -0.2, except on three-option Critical Thinking questions, where a wrong answer costs -0.33. Applicants whose total score (penalties included) falls below 17 are not considered in the selection at all. Because every wrong answer carries a penalty, disciplined, accurate answering matters more than rushing to fill every question.

How to prepare

With four distinct sections under a strict 75-minute limit, pacing and accuracy decide most results. Realistic, timed simulations that mirror the real format and scoring — combined with detailed explanations that show why an answer is right or wrong — are the most effective way to raise the test score that drives 55% of your ranking.

Alessia D.Venice, Italy

The logic section was always my weakness. Thanks to the topic-based filtering, I could focus exactly where I needed to improve.

NB
Nicolo B.Genoa, Italy

I did over 50 simulations before the real test and scored 41. The practice bank is massive and the scoring feels authentic.

MG
Martina G.London, UK

As an international student, I was worried about the test format. The difficulty was well-calibrated and the explanations were very clear.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about the Bocconi test and preparation.

What is the Bocconi admission test?

Bocconi's online selection test for bachelor and law programmes: 50 questions in 75 minutes, covering Mathematics, Reading comprehension, Numerical reasoning, and Critical thinking.

How is the Bocconi test scored?

+1 per correct answer, 0 for a blank, -0.2 for a wrong answer — except three-option Critical Thinking questions, where a wrong answer is -0.33. Applicants whose total score (penalties included) is below 17 are not considered.

How much does my high school GPA matter?

A lot. Selection is based on two elements only: your test score (55%) and your high school GPA from your third-last and second-last years (45%). Recommendation letters, motivation letters, and CVs are not assessed.

What is the minimum score I need?

A total below 17 (penalties included) is excluded from selection. Above that, admission depends on your combined ranking score and the places available for your programme and applicant category.

What sections does the test cover?

Mathematics, Reading comprehension, Numerical reasoning, and Critical thinking. Our simulations mirror this structure and timing so you can practise pacing across all four.
